The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) is a member of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). The college, which serves residents of Hardin County and 11 adjacent counties, provides accessible and affordable education and training through academic and technical associate degrees. With a total enrollment of approximately 5,000 students per semester, ECTC literally sits at the crossroads of prosperity and opportunity at the intersection of the north-south corridor of Interstate 65 and the east-west Bluegrass and Western Kentucky Parkways.
Working in partnership with Western Kentucky University and Kentucky Virtual University, the college offers seamless educational opportunities through Bachelor's and Master's Degree programs in the Central Regional Postsecondary Education Center. ECTC has worked to improve programs and services to local business and industry. The college provides workforce training by offering computer and hard skills such as Microsoft training and maintenance skills, as well as soft skills such as leadership and training in management, teamwork, planning, and communication.
ECTC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate Degrees. ECTC is accredited by the Council of Occupation Education and maintains national occupational certification.

Eight universities and colleges operate extension campuses at Fort Knox Military Reservation, 15 miles north of Elizabethtown. These extension campuses confer various graduate and undergraduate degrees and are open to the public. The extension campuses are operated by: Eastern Kentucky University, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, Western Kentucky University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, the University of Southern California, Sullivan University, McKendree College, and the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC).
