EVENT: Give a Day for Hunger

DATE: 10/14/2016

TIME: 9:00:00 AM

LOCATION: Feeding America Volunteer Center

As Fall Break approaches for our local schools, so does the thought of where a student’s next meal will come from. School breaks can mean empty stomachs for the one in four children in our community who live in poverty and depend on school meals as a main source of nutrition. Thanks to a special partnership between United Way of Central Kentucky, Feeding America Kentucky’s Heartland, and HealthSouth Lakeview Rehabilitation Hospital, those students on the BackPack program will receive an extra bag of food to keep them from going hungry during Fall Break. And because of donations made by generous community members through Give270, students on the BackPack program in all five of the United Way of Central Kentucky counties (Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson, Meade, and LaRue Counties) will now benefit from Give A Day For Hunger! But we still need your help! United Way of Central Kentucky is recruiting community volunteers to replenish Backpack Program bags for the Give a Day for Hunger event beginning on Tuesday, October 11th and ending on Saturday, October 15th at Feeding America’s Volunteer Center, located at 300 Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown. This volunteer event is appropriate for even the kiddos– ages 5+ with parent supervision. **In order to make sure we have enough space and work for everyone to do, businesses, schools, churches, and larger groups are encouraged to volunteer during the week while families and individuals are encouraged to volunteer on Saturday. However, please pick whichever date works best for you! If you have questions or would like more information, contact Ashley Tiemann at 270.737.6608 or by emailing
